Get HMCosrs Running in 5 Minutes
I use HMCosrs every day. It’s a custom OSRS client. Not official, but built by players for players.
It adds things like better banking tabs, loot tracking, and resizable UI. Nothing wild. Just useful.
You want the real thing, not some sketchy fork. Go to the official site: Hmcosrs. (Yes, that’s the only safe place.)
Google “HMCosrs client download” (the) official site should be first. Click it. Don’t click ads or random GitHub repos unless you know what you’re doing.
On the page, pick your OS. Windows? Grab the .exe.
Mac? Use the .dmg. Linux?
There’s a .tar.gz. Download the file. That’s it.
Double-click the downloaded file. Follow the installer prompts. No tricks.
No hidden checkboxes. Just Next, Install, Done.
If it won’t open, check your system requirements. But honestly, HMCosrs runs on my 2013 laptop. If it fails, it’s usually antivirus blocking it.
Try right-click → “Run anyway”.
You’re not installing malware. You are installing third-party software. So only get it from the official site.
Not Discord links. Not Reddit posts. Not random forums.

First Time Opening HMCosrs
I opened HMCosrs for the first time and stared at that blank login screen. You need an OSRS account first. No, HMCosrs won’t let you make one inside the client.
Go to the official RuneScape website. Make your account there. Then come back.
Click the client. Wait for it to load. It’s not instant.
(Mine took eight seconds the first time.)
Type your login. Hit enter. If it fails, double-check caps lock.
Or that you actually made the account before opening this thing.
Once in, go to Settings. Not the game settings (the) HMCosrs settings. Top right corner.
Turn sound off if your roommate’s sleeping. Lower graphics if your laptop wheezes. These aren’t permanent.
You’ll change them again next week.
Plugins are what make HMCosrs different from vanilla OSRS. They’re small tools that sit on top of the game. Some help.
Some distract. Most are optional. Start with just three: XP tracker, loot tracker, bank tagger.
Let them one at a time. See if they stick. (Sometimes they don’t reload after restart.
Just try again.)
This isn’t magic. It’s setup. And yes (this) is part of the Osrs Tutorial Hmcosrs path.

Tutorial Island Is Not Optional
You start here. Every new OSRS character lands on Tutorial Island. No skipping.
No workarounds.
I hated it the first time. Felt like babysitting. But it teaches movement, combat, fishing, cooking, mining, smithing, banking, prayer, and magic (all) before you see Lumbridge.
You make your character. Then talk to the Survival Expert. He sends you fishing.
You catch sardines. Cook them. Eat them.
That’s your first skill tick.
Then the Combat Instructor shows up. You equip a bronze sword. Hit a dummy.
Try ranged with a shortbow. It’s clunky. It’s supposed to be.
Mining starts with a tin rock. You swing your pick. Get ore.
Smith it into bars. Make a bronze dagger. Yes (you) craft your first weapon here.
The Financial Advisor opens your bank. Brother Brace teaches prayer (yes,) even at level 1. You light an altar.
You feel stupid. Everyone does.
The Magic Instructor gives you a spellbook. Casts wind strike. Misses half the time.
Good. That’s how it starts.
Then you walk to the boat. Sail to Port Sarim. That’s when the game actually begins.
You’re not ready. You won’t be for weeks. But you’re past the Osrs Guide Hmcosrs.
Tutorial Island is training wheels. Take them off. Ride.
What did you skip? (Spoiler: nothing.)
What’s Next for Your Osrs Tutorial Hmcosrs Experience
I turned on Tile Markers the first time I hit Tutorial Island.
It saved me three trips back to the banker NPC.
NPC Indicators? I use them to spot quest givers before I even know what quests exist. You’ll see them glowing before the game tells you who matters.
Ground Items makes dropped coins and logs pop out like they’re yelling at you.
No more squinting at dirt.
XP Tracker shows skill progress during the tutorial. That’s weirdly satisfying. (Yes, even at level 1 Firemaking.)
None of this is magic. It’s just tools you toggle on.
You don’t need all of them right away.
But you will miss them once you turn them off.
What’s next? You’ll start noticing gaps in your setup. Then you’ll go digging in the plugin hub.
That’s when things get real.
