I click Singleplayer → Create New World. You do the same. That’s step one.
No mystery.
Want to build or survive? Pick Creative or Survival. Creative means no hunger, no monsters, infinite blocks.
Survival means you gather, craft, and watch your back.
Difficulty matters. Peaceful? No mobs.
Easy? They spawn but don’t hurt much. Normal is where most people land.
Hard? Yeah, it bites.
Seed? It’s just a number that shapes your world’s layout. Type “123” now, and you’ll get the same mountains and caves as someone else who typed “123”.

You spawn. Look up. Look down.
Turn around. Your first five seconds decide if you live past sunset.
WASD moves you. Space jumps. Mouse looks.

Open your inventory with E. Drag wood into the crafting grid. Make planks.

Place the crafting table on the ground. Right-click it. Now you can make real tools.
Make a wooden pickaxe first. Then an axe. A shovel.
A sword. Don’t skip the sword. You’ll need it before dark.
Now go mine stone. Use that wooden pickaxe. Stone is slower than wood but it lasts longer.
And it lets you make better tools.
Shelter is not optional. Night comes fast. Zombies spawn.
Skeletons shoot. Creepers explode.
Dig into a hillside. Stack dirt blocks into a box. Two blocks high, three wide, three deep.
Put a door in. Or just close the hole with a block. It works.
You don’t need a mansion. You don’t need torches yet. You just need walls between you and the dark.

I mine underground because that’s where the good stuff hides. Surface rocks won’t cut it. You need stone to make furnaces and better tools.
Stone is everywhere below ground. Just dig down until you hit gray blocks. Mine them with any pickaxe.
Coal is black, shiny, and usually near stone. You need it for torches (stick + coal) and fuel in furnaces. No light?
Even wood works at first.
No progress. Simple as that.
Iron ore looks like brownish-gray rock with orange speckles. Find it between layers 2–64 (but) I usually hit it around Y=15. You must smelt it in a furnace using coal or charcoal.
Raw ore does nothing.
Iron ingots let you craft real tools, armor, buckets, and more. Wood and stone wear out fast. Iron lasts.
You’re probably wondering: What if I dig too deep and fall into lava?
Yeah. Happens. Bring water.

Farming and Food: Staying Fed in Minecraft
Hunger drains your health bar. If it hits zero, you stop regenerating.
I starved twice on my first world. Once because I punched a cow and ate raw beef. Bad idea.
Raw meat heals almost nothing. Cook it in a furnace first. You’ll get double the hunger points.
I found wheat seeds by punching grass near a river. Broke ten blocks before I got three seeds. (Grass drops seeds 30% of the time.
Don’t ask me how I know.)
Then I made a wooden hoe, tilled dirt, planted, and waited. Took forever. I kept forgetting to water it.
Turns out crops grow faster with water nearby.
Berries? Found them in plains biomes. Ate one.
Got poisoned for five seconds. Not worth it.
Apples drop from oak leaves. I shook trees until one fell. Tasted like cardboard.
But it filled my bar.
You don’t need fancy farms early on. Just cooked meat and wheat bread keeps you alive.
